Welcome to the Functional Academic Classroom at Round Rock High School, home of the Dragons. I look forward to a year filled with collaboration, creativity, problem solving, and achievements. Our program has a wonderful team of educators (3 teachers and 6 educational assistants) who understand the importance of a positive learning environment, and are dedicated to helping your student grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I am excited to implement new ideas that directly align with generalization, hands-on learning opportunities and innovative technology exploration. Parent communication and collaboration is key in creating the most beneficial learning experience for your student, so please know your input is valued and welcomed. Together Everyone Achieves More.
Materials/Supplies:
A list of school supplies, as well as a get-to-know-you packet will be sent home with your student on the first day of school.
Homework:
The majority of your student’s work will be completed during the school day. However, if your student does not finish an assignment, or was absent, homework may be sent home to complete and return the next school day.
Grading:
All FAC courses utilize a pass/fail grading system.
Student Expectations:
Class Schedule:
Due to the structure of a Functional Academic classroom setting, we are given the opportunity to implement a wide variety of content areas to provide a well-rounded educational approach for our students. We understand the importance of teaching our students fundamental life skills in relation to social/emotional skills, intra/interpersonal skills, vocational/workplace skills, as well as functional academics. Each class is intentionally designed to align with each student’s individual needs and goals/objectives in order to provide a meaningful, explorative learning experience.
